Description

The Carolina for Kibera Fellowship offers UNC-CH graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to apply their skills and talents while engaging in grassroots participatory development in Nairobi, Kenya. The year-long fellowship begins in the Spring semester with project formulation with CFK Staff (in the US and Kenya), orientation, and involvement in campus activities. In the summer, Fellows travel to Nairobi, Kenya and spend a minimum of eight weeks implementing their project in Kibera, one of the largest urban slums in Africa. Upon return from Kibera, fellows will complete their project and help tell the story of Kibera on campus during the Fall semester. The fellowship is fully funded and includes a stipend.

This fellowship is for UNC-CH graduate or undergraduate students who can help develop sustainable projects for CFK. We are looking for social innovators to collaborate with our Kenyan staff to create tangible results for CFK programs. Project options include health education, program assessment, or you can create your own project.
